eNews: Great Support, Great Endorsements, Great Events!

Why Courtney?

Endorsement of the Week: Tahira Hussain

"I support Courtney because of her commitment to the community and her genuine concern for people. Courtney worked with me and others to bring more attention to the issue of human trafficking in Howard County. She passed a resolution to create a task force that made several key recommendations that have now been implemented to help agencies work together on the issue. Courtney works for all of us, all of the time."

Finance Report

It takes a team... and I wish to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who donated to my campaign for State Delegate 9B. The first public report, released last week, showed that we had more than 300 donations in the 132 days since I announced my run. It was wonderful to see that 86% of the donations were from people who live in Howard County, and a very healthy majority of 56% of the dollars were from people who live in District 9B. As a candidate, I feel strongly that all people, in all walks of life, have the same opportunities to hold elected office. I am therefore also proud to say that my campaign is 100% funded by supporters like you, and not self-financed. No one can do this alone, and you inspire me every day to work hard for the residents of Ellicott City and all of Maryland.

Women's March in Baltimore

Baltimore Women's March 2018

A year ago, the Women’s March in Washington, DC was the first tangible sign that a movement was forming that has sustained our hope for a future where democratic values are once again being promoted by the highest office in the land. I remember marveling at the crowd in DC and being stunned when I finally got home by the images of similar marches all over the world. That day restored my hope.

Last Saturday, I joined Howard County men and women in Baltimore to mark the occasion of that first march and to embrace the emphasis on the importance of voting that was the theme of the second annual Women’s March. We marched for the protection of women’s reproductive rights, which are under attack, and the values of inclusion, equity, and opportunity for everyone. I ran into Dunloggin Middle School students at the march. Hope is very much alive!
