eNews: Endorsement, Healthcare Open Enrollment, and Girls Night Out

November 2017, Issue #3

Why Courtney?

Endorsement of the Week: Carole Fisher

Carole Fisher has been a respected leader in the Howard County Democratic Party forever. She’s a straight shooter who has worked her whole life for others, and I’m very honored to have her support in the 9B House of Delegates race.

For Carole, it's all about experience: "I have known Courtney for a long time. I knew her Mom, and I know her Dad, Ed Cochran, who is also a wonderful public servant. I watched Courtney on our school board and I was very impressed when she brought Dr. Sydney Cousin back as the Superintendent for HCPSS.

Her efforts on the County Council were equally strong and effective. In this election, I am going for experience and results. I know she will deliver for Howard County, again."

Issue Spotlight

Healthcare: There's been much discussion about changes to healthcare the past several months so it's important for people to know that they can still get health insurance through the Affordable Care Act. Open enrollment for a 2018 health insurance plan through the ACA is Nov 1 to Dec 15. Please spread the word with your network that people must enroll before Dec 15, 2017 to qualify for a health insurance plan for calendar year 2018. Call 410-500-4710 with questions.

Join Me!

Coffee In November. Our first coffee date brought out voters who had questions about the veterans tax credit in HoCo, parking on narrow side streets, and panhandling on busy roads.

Join me every Thursday this November (except Thanksgiving Day!), 10am at Cafe EZ, 3290 N. Ridge Road, Ellicott City. It's your chance to ask me questions and let me know what's on your mind as we approach the 2018 election. Just stop by, no reservations necessary. I look forward to seeing you!

Girls - and Guys! - Night Out on Main Street. Mark November 16 on your calendar and join me for Girls - and Guys! - Night Out on Main Street in Ellicott City. We'll start with Happy Hour from 4:30 to 5:15pm at LaPalapa. RSVP for Happy Hour. Then, we'll head over to the Wine Bin to help kick off GNO and learn about special offers. Get an early start on Holiday Shopping on Main Street until 9pm. #ShopLocal

Meeting Your Neighbors. One thing I really enjoy is talking with people at a house party. This format allows for extended discussion about the issues important to you and your neighbors.

Often I can get Senate candidate Katie Hester to join me as we did last week with this wonderful group of neighbors. In Ellicott City, keeping our school system strong is top-of-mind for families. If you'd like me to meet your neighbors by hosting a house party, contact Jenn Cavey to schedule. Speaking of Katie Hester, join us at her campaign kickoff.

Walking for Watson. Join us one weekend as we canvass. We'll be knocking on doors for several hours during most Saturdays and Sundays. Contact Jenn Cavey for more information and to donate your time - thank you!

Veterans Day Parade. Honor our veterans on November 11, 1pm, in Ellicott City at the parade on Main Street. This is a relatively brief parade perfect for the whole family. Come early for lunch from one of our great restaurants on Main Street.
