eNews: Honoring Veterans, Standing Coffee Date, and More

October 2017, Issue #2

Veterans Day

Did you know that Maryland is home to 400,000 veterans, including 20,000 who live in Howard County? We honor their sacrifices every day, but especially on Veterans Day. In 2011, Councilman Greg Fox and I sponsored legislation to create the Commission for Veterans and Military Families in Howard County with the intent to address veterans' issues in an effective and efficient manner. There is still much to do to meet the needs of veterans and their families, and I am committed to ensuring their access to healthcare, especially now in our uncertain healthcare climate. Learn more about the Commission and their work on these and other issues. Join us in honoring our veterans on November 11 in Ellicott City at the Veterans Day Parade on Main Street at 1pm.

For those of you who knit or crochet, here's another way to show your support: the Howard County Office of Veterans and Military Families is collecting homemade scarves for military members.

Follow on Facebook - See the #petsof9B

Follow my campaign on Facebook, and "like" it to have it show up in your newsfeed. This page has frequent updates of what I am doing out in the district and what's on residents' minds as I complete my door-knocking listening tour this fall. We have a lot of fun door knocking - and the page also includes my famous #petsof9B gallery which highlights some of the 9B voters' best friends we meet along the campaign trail!

Thank You for Volunteering!

Thank you to all the volunteers who joined Katie Fry Hester, China Williams, and myself for our volunteer appreciation wine-tasting event.

I shared with the volunteers the reasons I was running for delegate, and we discussed the issues of healthcare, the environment, and education.

Learn more about my stance on these important issues at my campaign website.
